Rolls or Maybach
last week I did an experiment around Dallas. I pushed the Rolls one evening and then the maybach. One is purely meant to be driven and the other can both ways. The Phantom is by far my favorite of all the big cars. Black on Black. Easily the biggest thing on the road. The instruments and switches are very simple. The ride, smooth as glass. This car is put together so well that when you turn off the climate controls you ca actually see the caps inside the vents seal when they close to keep out side smells from settiling in the car. The sound system is good in the back of the car, but a bit pedestrian in the front. The power of a v12 turbo, excellent when you accelerate. But where this car rules is in valet. Nothing on the road shuts the place down when you pull up like a Phantom. The grill makes such a statement its as if your car makes everyone stand at attention. Then the suicide doors. there is no better exit than getting out of the back of a Rolls.
Now Maybach is a different kind of luxury. Driving is exactly as you would expect from a Mercedes built vehicle. Also smooth as glass. I dont think the ride is as tight as the Rolls but it does not have a lot of float as many cars do. The instruments in this car, a handful. It has knobs and switches in the front and back and gives you a lot of control as you are being driven unlike the Phantom.
But the downfall for this car, which some people may like; is that it does not draw near the attention as the Rolls. If you just look up when it comes by, it looks like a bis S class Mercedes, but when its parked, it draws attention but does not command it.
